Filing a claim for damages
If you have suffered damage due to work done by the Water Board, you can hold us liable. This can occur, for example, during road works or (extensive) projects in our area. We can be held responsible for damage if there is negligence. This means that we could have prevented the accident or damage.
Requirements
We may be liable for damages you incurred if:
- there is a hazardous situation at the site. This is determined based on legislation and case law;
- you provide legal and convincing evidence of the event that caused you to suffer a loss.
How do I file a claim?
The more complete your return is, the better we can assess your liability claim.
Online
To file a claim, use the form.
By Letter
If submitting by mail, please address the application to:

In addition, attach the following information to your liability statement:
- Proof of the damage incurred (such as a bill for repairs);
- An explanation of the incident (such as a police report in an accident);
- possibly a witness statement;
- possibly pictures of the situation;
- Why you believe we are liable.
After your submission
The Water Board is investigating whether the damage was caused by ourselves. Depending on the duration of this investigation, HHNK aims to settle the damage claim within 8 weeks. Sometimes this takes a little longer.
