Permits

licence or report an activity

Are you going to be working in the water or in the neighbourhood water? Or are you going to be carrying out an activity that affects the water? Examples include filling in a ditch, building a shed along the water, extracting groundwater, or discharging wastewater.

You may need a licence us for this. In other situations, providing information about your activity or submitting a report may be sufficient.

Inform yourself well

It is important that you thoroughly inform yourself about the regulations that apply to your situation before you start your activity. You can do this via our website and the Omgevingsloket(Environment Desk) .

Information on our website

The website contains pages about various activities that are subject to water board regulations. There are also information pages that explain what various regulations entail, such as the permit requirement or the duty of care.

The pages help you understand, step by step, what the rules are and what you need to do to comply with them.

Environmental desk

At the Omgevingsloket (Environment Desk), you can use the Permit Check to check which regulations apply to your situation.

Always perform a license check

To find out which regulations apply to your activity, we recommend that you always use the Permit Check via the Omgevingsloket (Environment Desk). The Permit Check will immediately show you whether you licence a licence , have to submit a notification, or provide information.

The rules may vary depending on the location and activity. That is why it is important to always perform this check.

Find out what general rules apply

Don't licence ? Then general rules or the duty of care always apply. After the Permit Check, find out which general rules and duty of care apply to your situation. You can do this via the pages on this website or via Tailored Measures in the Environment Desk.

Customized measures work in the same way as the Permit Check. At the end, you will receive an overview of the duty of care and the general rules that apply to you.
