Permits
Apply for permit or report activity
Will you be working in or near water? Or are you going to perform an activity that affects water? For example, damming a ditch, building a shed along the water, extracting groundwater or discharging wastewater.
You may need a permit from us to do this. In other situations, providing information about your activity or making a notification may be sufficient.
Inform yourself well
It is important that you inform yourself well about the regulations that apply to your situation before you start your activity. You can do this through our website and the Omgevingsloket.
Information on our website
On the website you will find pages about different activities that are subject to rules of the Water Board. There are also information pages that explain what different rules mean, such as the permit requirement or the duty of care.
The pages help you understand step by step what the rules are and what you need to do to comply with them.
Environment Counter
In the Environment Counter, use the Permit Check to check which regulations apply to your situation.
Don't need a permit? Then you can use Measures to Measure to see what duty of care or general rules apply to your situation.
Do you know what you need to know? Then you can use Request in the Environment Desk to apply for your permit, submit a notification or provide the requested information.
Always do a permit check
To know which regulations apply to your activity, we recommend that you always do the Permit Check via the Environment Counter. The Permit Check will show you immediately whether you need a permit, a notification or information.
The rules may vary by location and activity. Therefore, it is important to always perform this check.
Look up what general rules apply
Do you not need a permit? Then general rules or the duty of care always apply. After the Permit Check, find out which general rules and duty of care apply to your situation. This can be done via the pages on this website or via Custom Measures in the Environment Counter.
Customized Measures works just like the Permit Check. At the end, you get an overview of the duty of care and general rules that apply to you.
Make your request or notification
Do you know what to do and need to apply for a permit, make a notification or provide information? Then you can do this through the Environment Counter.
