Traffic Waiver

An RVV waiver is a written permission to use a road when it is not normally allowed. Sometimes there is a prohibition on entering the road. And sometimes there is a maximum width (width restriction). Or a maximum weight (axle load restriction). These prohibitions apply because the road is not safe enough, is not wide enough or cannot support the weight. RVV stands for Reglement Verkeersregels en Verkeerstekens. You apply for an exemption from the road administrator. If we are the administrator, you therefore need an exemption from us.

Requirements

Who is eligible for an RVV waiver?

  • Emergency and emergency services (ambulance, fire department, police, family doctor, veterinarian);
  • Residents and owners of parcels along the road in question;
  • Employees of businesses along the road in question;
  • Postal workers and home care workers;
  • Road users with a demonstrable destination.

Do you want to exceed a width or axle load limit? Please consult with the Roads cluster first to see if this is possible. This can be done via the contact form. Or by telephone: 072 582 8282. Provide a Map with the route. And state the width and/or weight of the vehicle.

Fees

We charge fees (costs) for processing the application. Fixed fees apply for using a road in deviation from a traffic decree. See the page Fees.

Does it concern an exemption from an entry ban? Then we do not charge residents, owners and users of adjacent land, emergency services and the like.

How long does the processing take?

We will process your application within eight weeks. Is additional information needed? If so, we may extend this deadline. In that case, we will contact you.

Regulation

The Keur, the General Rules to the Keur and the Water Permit Policy Rules apply. See the Downloads and Links page.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have sold my car. Is my RVV waiver still valid then?

Does the waiver apply to multiple cars? Then yes. Does the waiver apply to one car? Then no. Report the sale using the contact form. We will remove the license plate from the exemption. And we will write down your new license plate if necessary.

I want to drive only once on a road where there is a ban. Is this allowed without a waiver?

No. Even then you will need a waiver. Report in your application that it is one trip. Also include the date of the ride.

Can I get a waiver for all prohibitions on all roads in the area?

No, then all prohibitions would be meaningless. You must name which roads you need a waiver for and why. A waiver cannot be granted for all roads.
