BlueBloqs rainwater system for smart water management

FieldFactors aims to contribute to climate-resilient and sustainable cities, industry and sports facilities through smart water management with the BlueBloqs stormwater system. The BlueBloqs system combines natural and technological solutions to make water management in urban areas more efficient and sustainable.

The system collects and reuses rainwater. This reduces water discharge to the sewer, prevents overflow or flooding, and stores rainwater for reuse at a later time. An example project is the Sparta district of Spangen in Rotterdam. In addition, Blue Bloqs replenishes the aquifer. This is the so-called aquifier recharge through infiltration of rainwater into the soil to restore groundwater reserves.

Drought

Blue Bloqs also improves the climate resilience of urban areas through water buffering and greening. And it reduces flooding and drought problems by storing rainwater locally and gradually releasing it. Through active groundwater management, too wet and too dry soils can be prevented, stopping subsidence and peat oxidation. An example project is Klapwijk, in the municipality of Pijnacker Nootdorp. Finally, innovative biofiltration technology is being used to improve water quality. Rainwater is purified before it is stored or reused so as to comply with legislation and prevent pollution of clean sources.

Data

The last year has seen a shift from municipalities to corporations needing to meet CSRD obligations and reporting. BlueBloqs from Field Factors meets quality and quantity requirements with its online monitoring and measurement techniques and concerning data provide for auditor reports.
