In the Netherlands, approximately 600,000 litre antifouling paint ends up in the environment every year.Finsulatereceives funding from the Water Innovation Fund to market Finsulate Antifouling to the business sector. This product is a sustainable alternative to traditional products that use chemicals in paints to prevent the growth of mussels, algae, and other organisms.

Finsulate Antifouling is a protective film that insulates the hull of a ship, making it much more difficult for underwater organisms to attach themselves to the underwater hull. Any growth can be easily wiped away underwater and sprayed off with high pressure above water. Because this product does not release toxins, it has no negative effects on water quality. This makes Finsulate eligible for the Water Innovation Fund. Finsulate Antifouling is currently available on a modest scale for the private market. With the support of the Water Innovation Fund, the step to the business market is being taken with a product that is as circular as possible. In addition, the adhesive, film, and fibers are being made even more sustainable.
