Municipality of Castricum: Nature area N203

We granted the municipality of Castricum € 66,480 subsidy for the climate adaptation measures in the project Nature Area N203. This is one of six projects to which HHNK has granted a subsidy from the KAN scheme.

Through this Klimaat Actief Noorderkwartier grant regulation, municipalities can receive subsidies for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof, up to 30% of the project costs. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On October 10, 2023 high water board Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to Alderman Valentijn Brouwer of the municipality of Castricum.

N203 nature reserve

Next to the N203 provincial road, at the Path from Human Rights to Buitendijkspad, the current agricultural land will be transformed into a nature reserve with approximately 2,270m2 of water. About 3,000m2 of forest plantation and about 2,580m2 of thicket will also be added. Thus, it will become a wetland natural area with trees that provide cooling. Alderman Valentijn Brouwer is very pleased with the contribution: "The project contributes to reducing the risks of flooding, drought, heat and flooding as well as stimulating biodiversity. Partly because of this contribution we can give the nature reserve the right impulse."

From the KAN grant, the municipality of Castricum will be awarded €66,480. The project will start in October and be completed in November.
