Municipality of Castricum: Nature reserve N203
We have awarded the municipality of Castricum a subsidy of €66,480 for climate adaptation measures in the N203 Nature Reserve project. This is one of six projects to which HHNK has awarded subsidies under the KAN scheme.
Through this Climate Active Noorderkwartier subsidy regulation, municipalities can receive subsidies for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof, up to 30% of the project costs. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On October 10, 2023, water board member Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to alderman Valentijn Brouwer of the municipality of Castricum.
Nature reserve N203
Next to the N203 provincial road, on Pad van Mensenrechten up to Buitendijkspad, the current agricultural land will be transformed into a nature reserve with approximately 2,270m² of water. Approximately 3,000m² of forest parkland and approximately 2,580m² of scrub will also be planted. This will create a water-rich nature reserve with trees that provide cooling. Alderman Valentijn Brouwer is very pleased with the contribution: "The project helps to limit the risks of flooding, drought, heat, and flooding, as well as stimulating biodiversity. Thanks in part to this contribution, we can give the nature reserve the right boost."
The municipality of Castricum has been awarded €66,480 from the KAN subsidy. The project will start in October and be completed in November.
