Municipality of Heemskerk: Noorddorperbeek water storage facility

We have awarded the municipality of Heemskerk a €100,000 subsidy for climate adaptation measures in the Noorddorperbeek Water Storage project. This is one of six projects to which HHNK has awarded subsidies under the KAN scheme.

Through this Climate Active Noorderkwartier subsidy regulation, municipalities can receive subsidies for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof, up to 30% of the project costs. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On October 10, 2023, water board member Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to alderman Ani Zalinyan of the municipality of Heemskerk.

Alderman Ani Zalinyan: "Thanks in part to the KAN subsidy, we can construct the water storage facility along the Noorddorperbeek. Together with HHNK, LTO Noord, and PWN, we are constructing a green water storage facility here to prevent flooding in the horticultural area due to heavy rainfall. At the same time, we are enhancing the natural environment here, and visitors will soon be able to enjoy this area too. It's a wonderful project!"

The Noorddorperbeek water storage facility will be constructed on the plot behind Rijksstraatweg 203 in the Heemskerkerduin. Thanks to its water-rich and green design, this green water storage facility will also add value to nature, water quality, and recreation. The total implementation costs of the project amount to €344,907, of which €100,000 will be allocated from the KAN subsidy. The project will start in January 2024.
