Municipality of Heiloo: Redevelopment of Oosterzijweg
We have granted nearly €58,000 in subsidies to the municipality of Heiloo for the redevelopment of Oosterzijweg. The renovation will improve water infiltration, retention, and drainage.
This is one of eight projects that HHNK has subsidized under the KAN scheme. Through this Klimaat Actief Noorderkwartier subsidy regulation, municipalities can receive up to 30% of the project costs for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On February 15, HHNK director Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to alderman Rob Opdam.
Limiting flooding
Alderman Rob Opdam explains: "The redevelopment of Oosterzijweg contributes to several of the water board's themes. These include water retention, infiltration, and storage, as well as robust water supply or drainage and relieving pressure on the sewer system. A special feature of the project is the use of the Wavi-core system, which allows rainwater to infiltrate the road foundation. This limits local flooding during heavy rainfall." The project is expected to start in November 2023 and is estimated to be completed in the spring of 2024. The total cost of the project is estimated at €192,400. The subsidy contribution from HHNK is €57,720.
