Municipality of Hollands Kroon: Replacing culvert Molenvaart

We have granted €100,000 to the municipality of Hollands Kroon for climate adaptation measures in the project Replacing the Molenvaart culvert in Anna Paulowna. This is one of six projects to which HHNK has granted a subsidy from the KAN scheme.

Through this Klimaat Actief Noorderkwartier grant regulation, municipalities can receive subsidies for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof, up to 30% of the project costs. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On October 12, 2023 high water board Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to Alderman Lilian Peters of the municipality of Hollands Kroon.

Alderman Lilian Peters: "The Molenvaart culvert in Anna Paulowna will be replaced by a larger one. This culvert also ensures that water can be admitted during drought and acts as a drain during heavy rainfall to prevent flooding. I express my thanks to the Water Board for their contribution. This is how together we keep Anna Paulowna dry and clean."

The municipality of Hollands Kroon will replace the Molenvaart culvert in Anna Paulowna. The purpose of this project is to make the water system of Anna Paulowna climate proof. During extreme precipitation, the water will be diverted to relieve the urban water system of Anna Paulowna. This makes the urban core less susceptible to flooding. From the KAN subsidy, the municipality of Hollands Kroon will have €100,000 at its disposal. The total amount of the project is € 1.1 million. The project will start in November and be completed in early December 2024.
