Municipality of Hollands Kroon: Replacement of culvert on Molenvaart

We have awarded the municipality of Hollands Kroon a €100,000 subsidy for climate adaptation measures in the project to replace the Molenvaart culvert in Anna Paulowna. This is one of six projects to which HHNK has awarded subsidies under the KAN scheme.

Through this Climate Active Noorderkwartier subsidy regulation, municipalities can receive subsidies for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof, up to 30% of the project costs. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On October 12, 2023, water board member Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to alderman Lilian Peters of the municipality of Hollands Kroon.

Alderman Lilian Peters: "The Molenvaart culvert in Anna Paulowna is being replaced by a larger one. This culvert also ensures that water can be admitted during droughts and acts as a drain during heavy rainfall to prevent flooding. I would like to express my gratitude to the water board for their contribution. Together, we are keeping Anna Paulowna dry and clean."

The municipality of Hollands Kroon is replacing the Molenvaart culvert in Anna Paulowna. The aim of this project is to make Anna Paulowna's water system climate-proof. During extreme rainfall, the water will be diverted to relieve the urban water system in Anna Paulowna. This will make the urban center less susceptible to flooding. The municipality of Hollands Kroon will receive €100,000 from the KAN subsidy. The total cost of the project is €1.1 million. The project will start in November and be completed in early December 2024.
