Municipality of Medemblik: Water storage road Nibbixwoud

We granted the municipality of Medemblik €100,000 subsidy for the construction of a water storage package under the roadway of Het Ganker in Nibbixwoud. This is one of eight projects that HHNK is subsidizing from the KAN scheme.

Through this Klimaat Actief Noorderkwartier grant regulation, municipalities can receive up to 30% subsidy of project costs for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof. The scheme is designed to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On March 9, Hoogheemraad Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to Alderman Nederpelt of the municipality of Medemblik.

Water storage package

Harry Nederpelt: "As a municipality, we are responsible for dry feet for our residents. Therefore, we would like to be completely climate-proof by 2050. Both theory and practice show that the core of Nibbixwoud is vulnerable to flooding. When plans were made to redesign Het Ganker, it was also decided right away to construct this water storage package. Soon the rainwater will be stored here in the soil and will not get a chance to cause nuisance in the village center of Nibbixwoud. Thus, the subsidy from HHNK helps us and our residents to prevent flooding."

Refurbishing The Anchor

The measures consist of the installation of a water storage package under the roadway of Het Ganker, between St. Matthijsstraat and Dorpsstraat. In addition, the supply and discharge of water from the ditch will be improved by enlarging a pipe, among other things. Provisions will also be made for the discharge and supply of water to and from the Ringslootje around the Cunerakerk. The project costs for climate adaptation amount to € 502,000, of which HHNK contributes € 100,000 from the KAN subsidy.
