Municipality of Purmerend: Water-robust Citergebied

Within the Citer area in Purmerend, water storage will be installed in the foundation of the road and parking lots. The inner streets of the area will become a residential area (15 km/hr) so no separate footpath is needed. The available pavement can begin to be used for pedestrians, cyclists and cars. This allows additional green water buffers with green spaces and a total of 17 additional trees to be planted compared to the current situation. Additionally, paving in front of garage boxes has been changed from bricks and tiles to infiltrating green paving with a grass-clover mixture. The work will be completed by mid-September 2025. The total cost of this project is € 356,168.33, of which a contribution of € 100,000 will be made from the KAN scheme.
