Municipality of Purmerend: Water-resilient Citer area

Within the Citer area in Purmerend, a water storage facility will be installed in the foundations of the road and parking spaces. The inner streets of the area will become a residential area (15 km/h), eliminating the need for a separate footpath. The available pavement can be used by pedestrians, cyclists, and cars. This will allow for the planting of additional green water buffers with green areas and a total of 17 extra trees compared to the current situation. In addition, the paving for garage boxes has been changed from stones and tiles to permeable green paving with a grass-clover mixture. The work will be completed in mid-September 2025. The total cost of this project is €356,168.33, of which €100,000 will be contributed by the KAN scheme.
