Municipality of Schagen: Nature-friendly banks

We have awarded the municipality of Schagen a €49,000 subsidy for the construction of nature-friendly banks. This is one of eight projects subsidized by HHNK under the KAN scheme.

Through this Climate Active Noorderkwartier subsidy regulation, municipalities can receive up to 30% of the project costs for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On March 7, water board member Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to Alderman Heddes of the municipality of Schagen.

Nature-friendly banks

Alderman Hans Heddes: "We are going to start work on creating nature-friendly banks in the municipality of Schagen. These will be created in various locations. To this end, soil will be excavated and removed. In addition, tiles will be removed and semi-paving will be laid to improve the infiltration of rainwater into the soil. The project will start this year and be completed around June 2025." The total cost of the project is over €160,000, of which HHNK is contributing almost €49,000 from the KAN subsidy.
