Municipality of Schagen: Nature-friendly banks

We granted the municipality of Schagen €49,000 subsidy for the construction of nature-friendly banks. This is one of eight projects that HHNK is subsidizing from the KAN scheme.

Through this Klimaat Actief Noorderkwartier grant regulation, municipalities can receive up to 30% subsidy of project costs for projects that make the living environment more climate-proof. The scheme is intended to accelerate the implementation of these projects. On March 7, hoogheemraad Klazien Hartog symbolically handed over this amount to Alderman Heddes of the municipality of Schagen.

Nature-friendly banks

Alderman Hans Heddes: "We are going to work in the municipality of Schagen to realize nature-friendly banks. These will be realized in various places. Soil will be excavated and removed. In addition, paving will be removed and semi-paved to improve the infiltration of rainwater into the ground. The project will start this year and be completed around June 2025." The total cost of the project is over €160,000, of which HHNK is contributing nearly €49,000 from the CAN grant.
