Municipality of Zaanstad: Deep infiltration Transvaal neighborhood

A drainage transport sewer is being constructed in the Transvaal neighborhood in Zaanstad to handle the volume of rainwater from frequent downpours. To retain peak rainfall in the area, 900 m³ of storage capacity is required. This water storage facility will be located underground beneath the parking spaces. An infiltration site will also be created deep underground. The total cost of the project is €500,000, of which €100,000 is subsidized by the KAN scheme. The project will be completed in mid-December 2026.
