Soil Investigation and Surveying of the Seawall
What's going to happen?
The purpose of the soil investigation is to gain more insight into the structure, subsoil, and strength of the dike. This is done by, among other things:
- carrying out drilling and probing on and next to the dike;
- taking soil samples;
- installing monitoring wells to measure the groundwater level;
- performing surveying cross-section measurements.
The specialized company Fugro is carrying out this work on behalf of HHNK. Prior to the fieldwork, the measurement locations are marked with wooden posts in a striking color.
Where is the project taking place?
These are sections of the Texel seawall, spread across 11 locations.
When will the project take place and how long will it last?
Surveying will begin on Monday, October 12 (week 42). And the soil investigation will be conducted from October through February.
