Individual Wastewater Treatment (IBA)
Do you discharge waste water via an Individual Wastewater Treatment System (IBA) rather than the municipal sewer system? If so, you will be required to pay a pollution tax. Do we manage your system? If so, you will be required to pay a purification tax. You will receive a tax assessment for a single-person household (1 pollution unit (pu)) if your IBA falls into class II or III.
How it works
An IBA is a system that purifies wastewater and then discharges it into surface water, such as a ditch. If you manage your own IBA, you pay a pollution tax. If we manage the IBA, you pay a purification tax. The rates for the pollution tax and the purification tax are the same.
IBA class I: septic tank
You will receive a pollution tax assessment for discharging into a septic tank. Each household pays pollution tax at the rate for a multi-person household (3 persons). Unless you live alone, in which case you pay for a single-person household (1 person).
IBA class II and III
Does your IBA fall into class II or III? Then we will set the pollution tax assessment at the rate for a single-person household (1 ve).
You can submit a request for the single-person rate (1 ve). In order to assess your request, it is important that you include the following documents:
- A document proving that it is an IBA class II or III. For example, a design drawing or an explanation of the IBA system. Accompanied by a document proving that the effluent (wastewater after treatment) meets the requirements of IBA class II, IIIa, or IIIb.
- a purchase invoice from the IBA;
- if available: a document proving that the IBA is maintained annually. If an IBA II or III is not maintained annually, its purification capacity will deteriorate and you will no longer be eligible for a lower rate.
