Quay improvement HULOK

HULOK is an abbreviation for Hensbroek, Ursem, Langereis, Opmeer, Koggenland. All polders are part of the VRNK-boezem. The 22 kilometer long project area has been tested for safety whereby the dike has been rejected for height and inward stability. Once all the rejected sections have been dealt with, the area will be in order for the next 30 years.

What has already been accomplished?

After going through all investigations and permit procedures, HHNK started the dike improvement project HULOK in 2023. In the first phase, the first 4 km of the dike improvement project were completed, running from Oude Niedorp to the Langereis and part of the Berkmeer. Last year we completed the section from Ursem to Hensbroek, and a section from the Kaagmolen to the Wipbrug.

What lies ahead?

The final phase of the dike improvement project has yet to be implemented. This part of the project lies largely between Molendijksweg, the Braken to the Obdam mill. In this, the work consists mainly of earthwork and pile driving.

Planning

At the end of September 2025, contractor van der Meer bv from Scharnegoutum will start the execution of phase 3. This final phase is expected to be completed by the end of January 2026.
