Quay improvement Starnmeer

The dike around Starnmeer had been rejected and needed to be improved. We ensured that the dike once again meets safety requirements and is expected to last for 20 to 30 years. In March 2023, contractor Beens Dredging started the work. With a few minor exceptions, this work was completed in the fall of 2025.

What happened?

The inner side of the dike has been made less steep and the supporting berm has been widened by adding soil. A new toe ditch has been dug along a large part of the route and cables and pipes have been relocated.

Who do we work with?

Discussions were held with all residents, owners, and other parties involved in the project area in order to find the best possible solution for the area. This participation and consultation with residents and organizations led to valuable new insights and measures that limited the disadvantages. In collaboration with the Province of North Holland and STIVAS, a land consolidation plan was developed in Starnmeer because an agricultural business was completely bought out.

Where is the project taking place?

The route runs around the Starnmeer, with the exception of the section of provincial road between the roundabout to the De Woude ferry and the Markervaart exit.

When will the project take place and how long will it last?

The remaining items concern some finishing touches (groundwork) and the installation of fencing. This work will take place in the spring.
