Medication residues

Return leftover medication to the pharmacy or recycling center. Never dispose of leftover medication in the toilet or sink. It is difficult to purify water of medication residues, which means that some of the residues end up in ditches and groundwater. This is harmful to aquatic life and biodiversity and makes it extra difficult to keep our drinking water clean.

Water quality

Medicine residues are difficult to purify and harmful to underwater life.

Our (drinking) water is safe. Various authorities ensure that our drinking water sources are kept clean. They take measures and develop new methods to purify water as effectively as possible, for example, of medicine residues. More and more hospitals are also purifying their own wastewater of medicine residues before discharging it.
