Water quality hotline
Clean water is essential for humans, plants and animals. In addition to human pollution, climate change threatens the quality of our water. High temperatures and the change in precipitation cause flooding, blue-green algae, botulism, fish kills, brown tap water, odor nuisance and a decline in life under water. This deterioration in water quality also threatens our drinking water.
We find it normal that clean water comes out of the tap and hardly costs anything. The Netherlands ranks among the world's best when it comes to clean and tasty drinking water. However, it is not that normal. Water is not only becoming scarcer, it also takes more and more effort to turn it into clean drinking water.
It is important to report problems with water to the water authority if something is suspected to be wrong. Then action can be taken in time to prevent or limit damage to the environment, homes and streets, and public health.
