Waterproofing walls
Climate change is causing increasingly heavy rainfall. These heavy rains also increase the risk of flooding. This may require measures to better protect your home against flooding. One such measure is to waterproof your walls.
What does waterproofing your walls entail?
Heavy rainfall can cause water to accumulate against the exterior wall. To waterproof the wall, you can:
- painting walls with moisture-resistant paint;
- impregnating or injecting walls;
- Install waterproof siding.
An impregnated wall prevents moisture penetration. Moisture penetration occurs when moisture (rain) penetrates the interior through the facade. An injected wall prevents rising damp. Rising damp occurs when walls absorb ground moisture. Moisture-resistant paint also prevents moisture. You can apply the paint to interior and exterior walls. A relatively expensive and labor-intensive solution is to install waterproof facade cladding. There are many options to choose from, such as stone strips. Combining new facade cladding with insulation work ensures an attractive and efficient result. This adds value to your home.
Costs
Impregnating a wall costs €10 to €15 per m². Applying waterproof cladding costs €35 to €100 per m². Moisture-resistant paint costs €25 to €40 per m².
