Takeover of urban water maintenance Landsmeer
What will happen?
The process of taking over urban water maintenance has begun. Initial consultations have been held and we are working toward signing a letter of intent. It is expected to be signed by the Alderman and the high water board in early 2024.
In many municipalities, different parties perform water maintenance. For residents it is unclear which government agency they should go to with questions or complaints about the ditches and maintenance. The district water board and the municipality of Landsmeer together want to create clarity for residents. Therefore the municipality transfers the maintenance of the urban water to the high water board. HHNK maintains all the waters in the rural area.
When will the project take place and how long will it take?
Preparatory work for the takeover has now begun, and the Water Board is expected to take over urban water maintenance from the municipality on Jan. 1, 2025.
Who do we work with?
There is cooperation with the managers of both the municipality and the Water Board.
What policy underlies the project?
