Pilot foundation investigation: update July 2023
The City of Amsterdam is collaborating with the core team on the pilot project concerning foundations. The project has now reached the stage where the first foundation surveys are being prepared. The city team wants to investigate the foundations of five homes. A call for applications to participate was therefore issued earlier. As there were not enough applications, the City of Amsterdam's Housing Quality Team has now selected five homes. The owners have received a letter about this.
The aim of the Durgerdammerdijk Foundations Pilot is to collect data based on foundation surveys of five homes where a subsidence rate of >4 mm per year has been observed. The aim is to investigate whether there are actually any unsafe situations. These foundation surveys are being carried out in accordance with the Amsterdam municipality's 'Policy rules on the quality of existing foundations' in collaboration with a research agency.
What happens after the examination?
The results are summarized in a report, including constructive advice. Depending on the condition of the foundation, the municipality recommends foundation repair. In the event of unsafe situations, the municipality and the homeowners make agreements to carry out foundation repairs within a certain period of time.
