Pilot foundation study: update July 2023
The City of Amsterdam is working with the core team on the pilot project around foundations. The project has now reached the point where the first foundation surveys are being prepared. The municipality's team wants to investigate the foundations of five homes. Earlier, therefore, a call was made for applications to participate. Because there were not enough applications, Team Woningkwaliteit van gemeente Amsterdam has now selected five homes. The owners have received a letter about this.
The purpose of the Pilot Foundations Durgerdammerdijk is to collect data based on foundation investigations at five homes where a subsidence rate of >4 mm per year has been detected. It is being investigated whether unsafe situations actually exist. These foundation investigations will take place according to the "Policy Rules on Quality of Existing Foundations" of the City of Amsterdam in cooperation with a research firm.
What happens after the examination?
The results are summarized in a report, including a structural recommendation. Depending on the condition of the foundation, the municipality recommends foundation repair. In the case of unsafe situations, the municipality and the homeowners make agreements to carry out foundation repair within a certain period of time.
