Land transactions procedure

Land we no longer need for for our water board duties can be sold or leased. This page provides more information about regulating land use.

Purchase or lease of land from the water board

There are several ways to arrange use of land with us:

  • You buy the land at a market price. This way you can make use of the land, expand your property and increase the value of your plot.
  • You rent the land at a market rate. Even then, you can use the land.

When you buy or rent land, we may set Requirements for its use. These Requirements have to do with the management and maintenance of ditches, dikes and roads, for example if a strip of land is close to a water barrier. Which Requirements these are depends on the situation.

Rent or buy at market rates

You buy or rent the plot at market prices. You willunderstand that water board land towards Amsterdam has a different value than towards the Noordkop. In the case of both purchase and rental, the value is determined by an independent appraiser. We bear the costs of the valuation. With a purchase, there is 'buyer's costs'. This means that, in addition to the purchase price, you pay the costs of the notary, the land registry and the transfer tax. With the valuation we take into account several factors including the (future) use and destination, and the situation itself.

Request purchase or lease of land

A request for purchase or lease can be made in writing or by using this form. Your request must include the following information: cadastral data of the parcel, an aerial photo or site plan showing the land you want, the purpose of the use and your name, address and place of residence. You can use this viewer:
