SusPhos receives funding from the Water Innovation Fund for phosphate recovery from wastewater. Specifically, the funding is for the further development of the patented technology, the engineering of the first full-scale plant, and strengthening the SusPhos team. In addition to the Water Innovation Fund, the Investment and Development Company for the Northern Netherlands (NOM), Rabobank, and Shift-Invest are part of the financing consortium.

SusPhos specializes in recycling phosphate and other compounds, primarily from wastewater treatment. SusPhos has a pilot plant at the Leeuwarden wastewater treatment plant and works with suppliers and customers to conduct joint tests with different starting materials and tailor products to market needs. CEO Marissa de Boer: "With this pilot plant, we are demonstrating that phosphate recovery has great potential. The consortium's funding will enable us to build the first full-scale plant, after which many more will follow."
