Improvement of the Egmond-Heiloo embankment

A number of dikes in the polder between Egmond and Heiloo are no longer safe enough. For now, it is not unsafe. But to ensure that everyone can continue to live, work, and enjoy recreational activities here safely in the future, these dikes must be improved.

What's going to happen?

In 2022, the dikes at Het Maalwater and along the Egmonderbinnenvaart will be raised and improved. For the rest of the area, we are currently exploring which parts are most important to address. We are also in contact with the municipality and are conducting additional studies to determine exactly where and how the dikes need to be addressed. This concerns the area shown below.
