Replacing IBA forest pavilion the Bear Pit

HHNK manages and maintains the IBA(Individuele Behandeling Afvalwater) at Bospaviljoen de Berekuil in Schoorl. The system consists of a number of underground tanks containing a technical installation. The IBA of Bospaviljoen de Berekuil in Schoorl has reached the end of its life and is being replaced by a new and improved installation in cooperation with the municipality of Bergen.

What will happen?

The existing plant will be removed in its entirety, after which the new plant will be installed. This new installation is a single system consisting of a number of connected concrete wells;

  • Pretreatment, for the capture of sewage foreign objects. This is also where the first biological treatment takes place.
  • Bioreactor, adding air creates a good climate for the bacteria that promote purification.
  • Post-purification, this is where the water recovers and any remaining sludge can sink to the bottom.
  • Infiltration facility, this is where the treated water goes into the soil.

Where does the project take place?

The project site is near the Bospaviljoen de Berenkuil, on the Schoorlse Zeeweg, in the middle of the Schoorl dunes.

When will the project take place and how long will it take?

Work will begin on Nov. 27 and will last about two weeks.

Who do we work with?

The Water Board is commissioning the work. For this project, there is cooperation with the Municipality of Bergen as the owner of the system. The work has been coordinated with Staatsbosbeheer, the Forest Pavilion and the Omgevingsdienst and will be carried out by Wetlantec Projects BV.
