Replacing Grootebroek discharge pipe
During excavation work near the railroad track in Grootebroek, a leakage in a discharge pipe of the sewerage system was detected Friday, July 26, 2024. The district water board ordered contractor Van den Heuvel to immediately construct a detour so that the leaking section of the discharge line could be taken out of service. After examination, the discharge line was found to be at the end of its service life. We are therefore replacing the entire discharge line through Grootebroek.
What will happen?
The new pressure pipeline will be constructed using two horizontal directional drilling (HDD). In this way, a pipeline can be laid underground over a long distance from two points. Thanks to the deep location, any obstacles can be passed without obstruction and nuisance to the surrounding area is limited. This implementation method means that work sites only need to be set up in a few places. The locations of the work sites are restored to their original state after the work is completed.
When will the project take place and how long will it take?
Project preparations began on Monday, Dec. 9, and will last until Friday, Dec. 20. During this period, work sites will be set up. Immediately after the Christmas vacations, work will begin. The end of the work is scheduled for Friday, March 28. The schedule depends in part on the course of the winter. If there is frost, the work may be delayed.
Nuisance
To weld together the new discharge pipeline, a work site will be set up on Verlengde Raadhuislaan, just before the junction with provincial road N505, starting Monday, January 6, 2025. This driveway will then also be closed to all traffic, including cyclists and pedestrians. Traffic to and from Grootebroek will have to use the exit to Esdoornlaan, or De Weed in Lutjebroek. Detour will be set up when necessary. Raadhuislaan and Verlengde Raadhuislaan, including surrounding homes, will remain accessible from Zesstedenweg during the work. The work and the supply and removal of materials may cause some noise and traffic nuisance. We hope for your understanding in this regard. In the image below, the drillings can be seen as red lines. The green lines are the connections that will 'normally' be made with excavators.
