If you see dead fish or fish in distress, please report it to us. If there are multiple fish, there may be a water quality problem. We will investigate the cause.

Report

If you see dead fish or fish gasping for air at the water surface, call us within business hours (8:00-17:00 a.m.) at 072-5828282 and outside business hours at 0800-1430.

What happens after you file a report?

If you make a report of fish kills, we go through the following steps:

  • Your report is immediately forwarded to both the area manager and the water quality incident management team.
  • Together they assess the situation and what next steps are needed.
  • We first assess who is responsible to resolve the situation. If we are, we act immediately.
  • When a water quality problem is suspected, we take water quality measurements to better assess the situation.
  • When fish are in distress, caused by lack of oxygen, HHNK tries to provide extra oxygen input to the water. Consider extra flow or oxygen pumps.
  • In an incident where there is no quick solution, the fish will be caught. This is often done in cooperation with the emergency team of Sportvisserij MidWest Nederland and/or professional fishermen. We only do this when no other solution is possible.
  • If there are more than five dead fish, our maintenance team will clean them up as soon as possible.
