Wet wipes

Wet wipes and sanitary pads, as well as face masks and other protective equipment such as plastic gloves, cause blockages in the sewer system at home, at the municipality, and at the water treatment plant.

During heavy rainfall, sewage ends up in the ditch due to blockages. This is bad for people and nature; it causes foul odors and fish mortality. In addition, sewer blockages and pump failures lead to additional maintenance costs. Do not flush waste down the toilet; instead, place a waste bin in the toilet and throw it in there. Only use the toilet for toilet paper and feces.

Flooding

Flushing wet wipes down the toilet can cause the sewer to become blocked. During heavy rainfall, the sewer can no longer process the (rain)water due to the blockages. This leads to flooding.
