VSGM

The company VSGM has received funding from the Water Innovation Fund to increase the continuity of the processing process with their machines for the circular processing sludge from sewage and water treatment. Processing sludge with VSGM's technology creates a new material that can be used as a raw material in the construction industry, including as a cement substitute.
In 2018, the Hollands Noorderkwartier Water Authority and the National Green Fund set up the Water Innovation Fund (WIF) to accelerate the market introduction of innovations in the fields of sustainable energy, circular economy, water quality, and water safety. Innovative companies can come from anywhere in the Netherlands, but their product or idea must also be applicable to HHNK. The VSGM (Van Slib Grondstof Maken, or Turning Sludge into Raw Material) technology fits in seamlessly with this. With the financing provided by the Water Innovation Fund, the existing installation will be adapted for the processing larger quantities of sludge and the specific properties of Dutch sludge. VSGM is the third project to be financed by this fund.
VSGM uses an innovative method for circular processing sludge from sewage and water treatment. Currently, sludge is still processed in incinerators, composted, or dumped, resulting in CO2 emissions or pollution. Processing sludge with VSGM's technology creates a new material that can be used as a raw material in the construction industry. In addition to very low CO2 emissions, this technology also has almost no nitrogen emissions. This so-called MID MIX technique is patented worldwide. VSGM is now marketing MID MIX in large parts of Europe.
