Water Compensation for the Common Spadefoot Toad in Obdam
What's going to happen?
Water must be compensated for the partial filling of waterways along the Obdammerdijk in connection with the recently completed HULOK dike reinforcement project (an acronym for Hensbroek, Ursem, Langereis, Opmeer, and Koggenland). To this end, a parcel of land along the Kwakelpad, owned by HHNK, will be converted into a new body of water. At this location, approximately 700 m² of land will be converted into a body of water with an environmentally friendly shoreline.

When will the project take place and how long will it last?
Starting in early November (week 45), the contractor will begin construction. The work is expected to last until about the end of December of this year.
Who do we work with?
The work is being carried out by the Haarsma Group of Tjerkwerd on behalf of the Hollands Noorderkwartier Water Board (HHNK).
What does this mean for you?
To carry out this work, approximately 700 m³ of soil will be excavated and hauled away. This means that approximately 120 transport trips are expected to take place via the Kwakelpad. The work will take about a week and a half.
Hiking Trail
The hiking trail along the Kwakelpad is temporarily closed. On the Recreatieschap Westfriesland website, route points 24 and 25 are currently blocked and therefore inaccessible to hikers.
