Building survey for residential properties

The houses in Durgerdam are located on the dike and are therefore part of the flood defense system. It is important for the water board to have accurate data on all houses. In recent years, a great deal of information has been gathered, including through archive and building research. However, the data on all houses is not yet complete, particularly with regard to the presence of basements. The water board has asked Van Monsjou & Partners (in collaboration with the Markermeerdijken Alliance) to carry out this research.

How is this research conducted?

The investigation consists of a visual inspection of the plot and the house and an interview with the owner/occupant. The interview is used to gather additional information about the foundation of the house, whether there is a basement, and whether you are experiencing problems with groundwater. A surveyor may also take measurements. The results of the investigation are incorporated into the calculations for the stability of the dike.

What do we ask of Durgerdam residents?

If we are missing information about your property, you will receive a letter from us by post. In this letter, we will ask if we may conduct a building survey on your plot and at your property. This will take place in October and November. Some residents will not receive a letter: this means that we do not (currently) need any information about your plot or your property.
