Management Strategy
The dunes are a natural flood barrier. They protect the hinterland from flooding. But as the sea level rises, the dunes must also grow. This is more necessary in some places than others. And where that is the case, we can now better model. That has implications for, for example, permitting.
Anticipating sea level rise
The sea level is rising; fortunately, it is very gradual. This allows us to anticipate it. And now we can do that even better because we can calculate future water safety for one, two and three meters of sea level rise. And so we can also see where the weak spots are. Where is the dune too narrow? Where is the dune growing well? Where is there a weak spot in the dune through which the sea eventually reaches the hinterland?

Preparing for the future
Future weak spots have now been Map and will be addressed in the coming years. For example, beach entrances will be raised and areas in the dune that are too low will be addressed.
Management strategy taken a closer look

Management Strategy - Looking at a Resilient Coast
Resilient coast viewer
You can see the effects of sea level rise in our viewer. With this interactive viewer future water safety developments of the sandy coast can be seen. With the choice of map layers, the user determines the view. We have prepared a manual for proper use.
