Message box from My Government

Are you registered for the MijnOverheid Message Box? If so, you will only receive your tax assessment digitally. If not, you will receive your tax assessment by mail. You MijnOverheid use MijnOverheid to choose whether you want to receive your tax assessment digitally or not.

What is the Message Box?

The Message Box is your personal mailbox where you can receive digital mail from the Tax and Customs Administration, RDW, SVB, UWV, and your municipality. This includes messages about your benefits, child allowance, unemployment benefit payment details, or the expiration of your driver's license or vehicle inspection. When you have new messages, you will automatically receive an email. More and more government agencies are joining the Message Box, which means you can receive more and more mail digitally.

Using the message box

To use the Message Box, go to MijnOverheid and follow the instructions. Log in with your DigiD. You can choose which organizations you want to receive messages from via the Message Box.

Authorize someone

Would you like to use the Message Box, but does someone else help you with your mail? You can authorisation someone to read your messages. You can arrange this via DigiD Authorization.

Can I read mail from HHNK directly on my mobile phone or tablet?

Read mail directly on your mobile phone or tablet. You can do this with the Messages Box app from MijnOverheid. 

The app will notify you as soon as you receive new mail. You can log in easily and securely with the DigiD app. 

Stay informed 

The launch of the app has simplified access to the Message Box. Mail can be read directly in the app, without having to log in to MijnOverheid. It is also possible to forward mail from the app to another email address. 

The Message Box app uses the notification function of mobile phones and tablets. The app immediately sends a notification when new messages are available in the Message Box. 

It is expected that quick access to the app and the notification function will have a positive effect on the number of messages read.

I prefer to receive mail from HHNK on paper. How can I arrange this?

If you no longer wish to receive digital mail from us in your Message Box, you must unsubscribe yourself.

To do this, click on the Settings button in the Message Box and then, under Organizations Message Box, in the Water Boards category, uncheck the box next to 'Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier'.
From that moment on, you will receive our assessments by mail again as usual.

What happens to the Message Box and My HHNK after death?

We receive notification of death via the municipality. From that moment on, we no longer send tax assessments or messages to the deceased MijnOverheid Message Box. Logius, the agency responsible for the government's digital services, blocks the deceased person's DigiD after a certain period of time. From that moment on, it is no longer possible to use the deceased person's MijnOverheid Message Box MijnOverheid Mijn HHNK.
