Chiara van Lieshout wins Han Fortmann art competition

On Thursday, February 12, the results of the public prize for the art exhibition "Uitgelicht!" were announced. Over the past three weeks, residents were able to vote on three selected works of art created by students at Han Fortmann College. Nearly 500 art lovers chose their favourite. Chiara van Lieshout received more than half of the votes and won the public prize for the art exhibition 'Uitgelicht'. The exhibition can be viewed at our office in Heerhugowaard until June 5.

Nine students from Han Fortmann created a work of art for their final drawing exam. They chose the polder landscape near the Kaagmolen and the historic pumping station as their source of inspiration. This was done in collaboration with HHNK. Using the classic etching technique, the works depict the light and the landscape around the Kaagmolen and the historic auxiliary steam pumping station in the Kaagpolder. Their works are inspired by the unique oeuvre of master etcher Rembrandt van Rijn.

Collaboration

This exhibition marks the tenth collaboration between HHNK and Han Fortmann. For this reason, a section of the exhibition has been reserved to showcase the winners from previous years.

Exhibition

The exhibition can be viewed during office hours at the HHNK office in Heerhugowaard until June 5, 2026. Visitors to the exhibition can also explore the "Waterschat" museum space, where they can admire highlights from the water board's water heritage collection.
