The linocut depicts "Water storage facility de Uitgang," with the mill "Nieuw Leven" in the background. This spot lies between the polders Hensbroek and Wogmeer. In making this linocut, it was important to emphasize the vastness and height differences that are so characteristic of the North Holland polder landscape.

The vastness of the landscape is evident through the wide landscape that has been depicted. Furthermore, the height differences are visible due to the water storage surrounded by a (higher) dike slope.

I chose this place because I grew up near it. It is an area where I have often hiked, swam and boated. For me it has always been a beautiful piece of landscape, rich in unusual birds and fish.
