Quay improvement Kolhorn De Strook
We ensure the safety of the dikes in our management area (North Holland north of the North Sea Canal). We regularly check the safety of the dikes. The De Strook embankment near Kolhorn has been rejected and must be improved. We will ensure that the embankment meets the safety requirements for the coming years.
Where is the project taking place?
This embankment is located east of the village of Kolhorn, along the Kolhornerdiep.

What's going to happen?
The dike at De Strook no longer meets the required height and therefore needs to be raised. This will be done by adding extra soil on top of the current dike. The road does not need to be raised and can remain in its current state. Preparations for this maintenance work are now being made in collaboration with the Schmidt consultancy firm.
Who do we work with?
HHNK is the client for this dike improvement project. We are also working with the Schmidt consultancy firm and coordinating with the municipality of Hollands Kroon regarding permits and the traffic situation during the implementation phase. In addition, contact has been made with the harbor master of Kolhorn, with whom we have coordinated our plans for the implementation and requested input. Furthermore, local residents will be informed during a meeting. HHNK, the municipality of Hollands Kroon, and the Schmidt consulting firm will be represented at this meeting.
When will the project take place and how long will it last?
The design for the dike reinforcement is currently being drawn up, after which the contract with the contractor will be drawn up and the permits will be applied for. The plan is for work to start in January/February 2026 and for the dike reinforcement to be completed by April 2026 (before the start of the sailing season).
