Quay improvement Kolhorn The Strip
We ensure safe dikes in our management area (North Holland north of the North Sea Canal). We regularly check the safety of the dikes. The polder dike at De Strook, near Kolhorn, has failed and must be improved. We ensure that the quay again meets the safety requirements for the coming years.
Where does the project take place?
This boezemkade is located east of the village of Kolhorn, along Kolhornerdiep.

What will happen?
The dike at De Strook no longer has the required height and therefore needs to be raised. This will be done by applying extra soil on top of the current dike. The road does not have to be raised and can be maintained in its current condition. In cooperation with consulting firm Bureau Schmidt, preparations are now being made for this maintenance work.
Who do we work with?
HHNK is the client for this dike improvement. We are also cooperating with the consultancy firm Bureau Schmidt and are coordinating with the municipality of Hollands Kroon on the permits and traffic situation during implementation. There has also been contact with the Harbour Master of Kolhorn, where we have coordinated our plans for the implementation and requested input. In addition, local residents will be informed during a meeting. HHNK, municipality of Hollands Kroon and consultancy firm Bureau Schmidt will be represented at this meeting.
When will the project take place and how long will it take?
Currently, the design for the dike reinforcement is being made, after which the contract with the contractor will be drawn up and the permits will be applied for. Implementation is scheduled to begin in January/February 2026 and the dike reinforcement will be completed by April 2026 (before the boating season begins).
