With this project, we are improving fish migration and fish diversity between the Wadden Sea, the hinterland, and the IJsselmeer.

The construction of a fish passage will also open up the Amstelmeerboezem to diadromous fish via the IJsselmeer.

We are using various methods to investigate the structure, subsoil, and strength of the western side of the Wieringermeer barrier.

Research shows that the floodwall is not currently high enough. Therefore, it must be modified.

Several embankments at the Schagerkogge, east of Schagen, have been rejected and must be improved.

The dikes between Den Oever and Den Helder do not meet the standard in several places.

The dike at De Strook no longer meets the required height and must therefore be raised.

Most parts of the Wieringermeer barrier do not require reinforcement. However, the Haukesschutsluis lock no longer meets water safety standards.

To ensure that the Wieringermeer water level area continues to have sufficient water in the future, we are replacing the inlet and increasing the inflow capacity.

In 2025, we will replace the Hippolytushoef pumping station. The current pumping station has reached the end of its technical lifespan.

There are moles in some places in our dikes. For water safety reasons, we have them removed by a professional mole catcher.

This year, we expect to start demolition and new construction of the Hoelmerkoog pumping station on Wieringen.

To protect the water-retaining function of the Markermeer and IJsselmeer dikes, we burn away vegetation on the stone revetments.
