Starting in mid-July, a contractor will be performing maintenance work for us on various waterways in the eastern part of the Wieringermeer.

The Hoekvaart pumping station in the Wieringermeer needs to be replaced. We have decided to build a new, larger pumping station at a different location.

With this project, we are improving fish migration and fish diversity between the Wadden Sea, the hinterland, and the IJsselmeer.

We are using various methods to investigate the structure, subsoil, and strength of the western side of the Wieringermeer barrier.

Research shows that the floodwall is not currently high enough. Therefore, it must be modified.

Several embankments at the Schagerkogge, east of Schagen, have been rejected and must be improved.

The dikes between Den Oever and Den Helder do not meet the standard in several places.

The dike at De Strook no longer meets the required height and must therefore be raised.

Most parts of the Wieringermeer barrier do not require reinforcement. However, the Haukesschutsluis lock no longer meets water safety standards.

In 2025, we will replace the Hippolytushoef pumping station. The current pumping station has reached the end of its technical lifespan.

In 2025, we will replace the P. van der Sterr pumping station north of Kolhorn. The current pumping station has reached the end of its technical lifespan.

There are moles in some places in our dikes. For water safety reasons, we have them removed by a professional mole catcher.

To protect the water-retaining function of the Markermeer and IJsselmeer dikes, we burn away vegetation on the stone revetments.
