Quay improvement Schagerkogge

We ensure safe dikes in our management area (North Holland north of the North Sea Canal). We regularly check the safety of the dikes. Several of the storage basin dikes near the Schagerkogge, east of Schagen, have failed and must be improved. We ensure that the quays once again meet the safety requirements for the coming years.

Where does the project take place?

These boezemkades are located east of Schagen, in the agricultural area. On the Map the parts of the storage basin dikes that need to be reinforced are shaded. The different colors on the Map indicate the various dike sections into which the boezemkades are divided.

What will happen?

The quays at the Schagerkoggeboezem no longer have the required height and must therefore be raised. This will be done by applying extra soil, on top of the current dike. In collaboration with consulting firm Movares, preparations are now being made for this maintenance work.

Who do we work with?

HHNK is the client for this dike improvement. We are cooperating with consultancy firm Movares and discussions are being held with various farmers and other residents in the area who have plots of land on or adjacent to the dike. In addition, the municipality of Hollands Kroon and the municipality of Schagen will be informed about the work and, where necessary, coordination will take place with both municipalities.

When will the project take place and how long will it take?

Currently, the design for the dike reinforcement is being made, after which the contract with the contractor will be drawn up and the permits will be applied for. Implementation is planned to be completed before the end of 2026.
