Mills are one of the most Dutch things you can think of when you think of a Dutch landscape. They are indelible in our culture. This is one of the reasons I chose to paint this windmill.
I also knew that this mill on the water - near where I live - is a very nice picture when you have a water landscape assignment for drawing. I took many pictures of it in different ways and chose the most beautiful ones. Painting water reflection was quite a job, but after a lot of time and effort, I succeeded.
