Rainwater challenge

Who can come up with the most creative way to collect rainwater at home?

Collecting rainwater is a good idea, because you can reuse this water to water the flowers and plants in your garden. This saves clean drinking water.

In addition, collecting rainwater during heavy rainfall prevents the sewer system from becoming overloaded and flooding.

What should you do?

Think of an original way to collect rainwater at your home. This could be outside, inside, in the garden, on the balcony, or even in the attic! Consider:

  • a specially designed collection system;
  • a creative downspout solution
  • something involving plants, baking, or materials you already have;
  • a real structure or a model;
  • a drawing or design with an explanation.

Anything goes, as long as it's your own idea!

How do you submit the idea?

Go to this form and enter your idea: Submit an idea for the Rainwater Challenge

Describe him as completely as possible. You can also upload a drawing if you want.

What can you win?

The class with the best/most creative idea wins admission + an activity at the Zuiderzee Museum for the entire class! (This does not include transportation to the museum.)

What do we pay attention to?

We assess the ideas based on three criteria:

  • ⭐ Creativity
    • How surprising, original, or imaginative is the idea?
  • ⭐ Uniqueness
    • Have you come up with something we haven't seen before?
  • ⭐ Feasibility
    • Can this really be done at home? Are the materials easy to find or use?

How much time do you have?
