Renovation sewer pumping station Zaandam-West

The Zaandam-West sewerage pumping station is an existing sewerage pumping station that dates back to 1976. The sewage pumping station consists of a receiving cellar fed by a municipal supply system and a dry pump cellar. Sewage is collected in the receiving cellar and is pumped by a discharge pipeline to the Westpoort sewage treatment plant in Amsterdam.

What will happen?

The sewage pumping station is outdated and prone to failure and is being renovated to resume reliable operation. To carry out the renovation, the sewage water will be pumped through, even though the pumping station is temporarily out of operation due to the renovation. Therefore, a temporary pumping unit (TPI) will be deployed during the work to temporarily take over the pumping function of the pumping station. During the renovation work, concrete, demolition and repair work will be carried out and mechanical and electrical installations renewed, among other things.
