Renovation of Zaandam-West sewage pumping station
The Zaandam-West sewage pumping station is an existing sewage pumping station dating from 1976. The sewage pumping station consists of a receiving chamber fed by a municipal supply system and a dry pumping chamber. The sewage is collected in the receiving chamber and pumped through a pressure pipe to the Westpoort sewage treatment plant in Amsterdam.
What's going to happen?
The sewage pumping station is outdated and prone to malfunction and is being renovated to ensure it can operate reliably again. In order to carry out the renovation, the sewage water will be pumped through, even though the pumping station will be temporarily out of operation due to the renovation. For this reason, a temporary pumping installation (TPI) will be used during the work to temporarily take over the pumping function of the pumping station. During the renovation work, concrete, demolition, and repair work will be carried out, and mechanical and electrical installations will be renewed.
