Subsidy scheme for polder mills Hollands Noorderkwartier

With the Hollands Noorderkwartier Polder Mills Subsidy Scheme we support owners of polder mills in our management area with an (annual) contribution for activities aimed at maintaining polder mills. The scheme takes effect on January 1, 2025.

Requirements

  • The application complies with the provisions of our General Subsidy Regulation HHNK 2023 and the Subsidy Regulation Polder Mills Hollands Noorderkwartier.
  • Subsidy can only be provided for activities aimed at the conservation of polder mills located within the management area of the Water Board. These are all windmills with National Monument status that were or are used for the extraction and/or grinding of water. Windmills for underdrainage that have never been managed by the predecessors in title of the higher water board do not qualify for this subsidy scheme.
  • The amount of the grant is up to 50% of the eligible costs with a maximum of €1000 per mill per calendar year.
  • For 2025, the grant ceiling is set at €51,000.
  • The grant for calendar year 2025 can be applied for no later than March 31, 2025. Starting in 2026, applications should be submitted each time before the start of the calendar year for which the subsidy is requested. So the maintenance grant for 2026 can be applied for until December 31, 2025. 

Here's how it works

  1. Complete the Polder Mills Grant Application Form.
  2. Attach a budget of and a coverage plan for the conservation costs of the polder mill(s). The coverage plan shall include a statement of grants or reimbursements requested from others for the same activities, indicating the status of these.
  3. Attach a de minimis statement if necessary (for companies only). The application form explains when this is required.
  4. Your request will be considered.

How long does the processing take?

  • You will receive a confirmation of receipt. We will process your request. If necessary, we will ask you for additional information.
  • After the application is complete, you will receive a letter with our decision within eight weeks. Of course, we will do our best to process your request as quickly as possible.

The personal data you provide will only be used to evaluate the grant application. They are kept in accordance with the legal retention period.
