'Story of Hollands Noorderkwartier' grant scheme
With the subsidy scheme 'Story of Hollands Noorderkwartier' we support projects and activities aimed at education, (cultural) history or water heritage related to our water tasks in the past, present or future. We also support activities that contribute to our name recognition or awareness of our tasks. These include events, exhibitions, publications and the like.
This subsidy scheme is not intended for a contribution to, for example, the construction of a green roof or other measures aimed at climate adaptation. Nor is the grant intended for activities aimed at the maintenance or restoration of mills and other water heritage.
Requirements
- The application complies with the provisions of our General Subsidy Ordinance HHNK 2023 and the 'Verhaal van Hollands Noorderkwartier' subsidy scheme.
- The application fits within the purpose of the subsidy scheme. If it concerns an activity with a cultural-historical character, it is in line with the principles of the established Water Heritage Vision.
- The application is directly related to the Water Board's management area.
- The amount of the grant is up to 50% of the eligible costs.
- Not eligible costs are:
- salaries, unless they are directly related to the creation of the activity to be subsidized;
- costs incurred by the grant recipient in submitting the application;
- maintenance costs;
- the residual value, if any, of equipment purchased specifically for the eligible activities.
- The grant may be denied if the activities for which a grant is sought have begun before the application is received.
- For 2025, the grant ceiling is set at €20,000.

- Attach a de minimis statement if necessary (for companies only). The application form explains when this is required.
- Your request will be considered.

How long does the processing take?
- You will receive a confirmation of receipt. We will process your request. If necessary, we will ask you for additional information.
- After the application is complete, you will receive a letter with our decision within eight weeks. Of course, we will do our best to process your request as quickly as possible.
The personal data you provide will only be used to evaluate the application for a grant. They are kept in accordance with the legal retention period.
