Relocation, change of address

Have you moved or are you planning to move? The municipality will automatically notify us of your move. Whether we reduce your tax assessment depends on your situation.

What happens to your tax assessment after you move?

If you continue to live within our area, your move will not affect the amount of tax you are liable to pay.

Are you enrolled your new address and do you meet one of the conditions below? Then you will (automatically) receive a reduction in the sewage treatment levy or pollution levy:

  • if you have moved outside the HHNK area;
  • if you have moved in with someone who already receives a water board tax assessment;
  • if you have started living alone.

The water system levy and road tax will not be reduced. This is stipulated by law.

Money is still being debited from your account after your move.

We reduce the sewage treatment levy in the following situations:

  • if you have moved outside the HHNK area (checkhereto see which water board your address falls under);
  • if you have moved in with someone who already receives a water board tax assessment;
  • in the event of death;
  • if you have started living alone.

If you use direct debit, the monthly instalments will continue instalments . We will not refund the reduction amount, but will offset it against the monthly installment amount. The installment amount will then be lower.

If you no longer wish to use direct debit, you must authorisation your authorisation . Please note: you will then have to pay the outstanding amount in full.

Sale of property

The ownership situation on January 1 is decisive. If you were still the owner at that time, you will receive the tax assessment. The notary will settle the water system levy for owners and the road levy for owners between the buyer and seller outside of HHNK. You can check this on the notary's settlement statement.

We would like to receive the tax assessment in someone else's name. Is that possible?

Yes, you can submit a request for the next tax year. Whether we implement the name change depends on the following conditions:

  1. When it comes to user fees, the co-user must enrolled at the address on January 1 of the year.
  2. When it comes to owner levies, the co-owner must be registered as the owner in the Land Registry on January 1 of the year.
  3. Both the person who currently receives the tax assessment and the newly proposed taxpayer must sign the request.
  4. If there is a combined assessment (taxes for use and ownership on a single tax assessment notice), it cannot be split. The newly proposed taxpayer must be liable for all taxes listed on the tax assessment notice.
  5. The name change must not prevent the tax assessment from being collected.

Send your request, signed by you and your co-resident or co-owner, tobelastingen@hhnk.nl (you can scan your request or take a photo of it), or by mail to:

I now live alone. Do I need to submit a request for a reduction in my tax assessment?

No, this is not necessary. If the Personal Records Database (BRP) shows that you have moved in alone, we will reduce the purification levy or pollution levy for your living space. You will receive a letter about this. We will not reduce the water system levy or the road levy. This is determined by law.
