Dredging deepening Nauernasche Vaart Krommenie

What will happen?

From July 15, contractor Beens Dredging from Amsterdam will start dredging the deepening in the Nauernasche Vaart between roughly the Pieter Engel pumping station, along the Forbo factory to the bridge of the N8 over the Nauernasche Vaart. The work is taking place on behalf of Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier.

Where does the project take place?

The work will take place in the Nauernasche Vaart from pumping station Pieter Engel on the Vaartdijk to the bridge of provincial road N8 over the Nauernasche Vaart.

The reason for the work is an accelerated accretion of the dredging silt in the route, causing inconvenience to users of the waterway.
The work will take place in two phases. The first phase involves the removal of the dredging silt that is seen as the biggest bottleneck. The first phase must be carried out before the start of Sail Amsterdam. After this period, the second phase will start. During this phase, the section must be dredged to the fairway dimensions(NAP -2.75 meters). This work should be completed before mid-October.

Using a hydraulic crane on a crane barge, the dredged material is excavated and loaded into hopper barges. The dredged sludge in the hopper barges is transferred to trucks by a crane at the unloading quay in front of the Forbo. The dredged sludge is then transported to a depot of the Water Board in Beverwijk and to Baggerzorg's Middenmeer depot.

When will the project take place and how long will it take?

Work will start from July 15 and be completed by mid-October 2025

Who do we work with?

Daily supervision of the work will be provided by Mr. Remco ter Horst of Ingenieursbureau Niebeek.
