HHNK and regional partners practice crisis situation extreme flooding
We are participating in the regional crisis exercise 'Cloudburst'. Four water boards (Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden, Hoogheemraadschap Rijnland, Waterschap Amstel Gooi en Vecht and HHNK) are practicing from November 4 to 17, together with the Ministry of Defense, Rijkswaterstaat and the Red Cross, the scenario of an extreme rainfall in a short period of time. A "water bomb" of 200 mm will pour out (fictitiously) over the provinces of Utrecht, North and South Holland in 48 hours. With this exercise, the organizations want to prepare for heavy rain showers that we are increasingly facing, but also make residents aware of the challenges we face in this region. The exercise involves crisis teams in the office and in practice. HHNK will participate in the final administrative exercise on November 17 in which cross-border choices will be made between administrators of the water boards and Rijkswaterstaat.
