What do we look for when inspecting the levees? We check for damage to the levee. All levees are inspected by two certified inspectors and tested with a prods (four-eye principle). Among other things, we look for damage to the revetment, wet spots, subsidence or bulges. All observations are stored in a database via the 'digispectie app'.

The state of our levees

Based on the inspection, we get an up-to-date and detailed picture of the condition of our levees. On this basis, we assess the damage and can plan and carry out our maintenance work; the most urgent and important repairs first. Leaseholders, tenants or owners of a dike are themselves responsible for maintenance.

Multiple inspections

Our area managers monitor the condition of levees on a daily basis. This is a global inspection, aimed at monitoring and noting damage. We inspect extra in the spring, in the fall and when special circumstances arise. Special circumstances include prolonged drought in the spring/summer and chances of high water and storm in the fall.
