Lina van den Bos
When I heard that we had to do this assignment, an ode to the shore, I immediately wanted to get started, because I love nature and photography. I had taken photos of different types of shores and plants. I had made a collage of water lilies, one with photos of a ditch at sunset, open landscapes with ditches, and one of swans. It took me a long time to decide what exactly I was going to depict in my painting, because I liked everything. In the end, I chose the swans, because I think swans are beautiful animals and, of course, they are also part of aquatic life in the Netherlands. I live by the water and last summer the swans swam past our garden every day. When painting this picture, I was inspired by expressionist art.
