Flood defenses for which the national government or the province has not established safety standards are referred to as 'other flood defenses'. These other defenses have of course also been mapped, but have not yet been digitized in detail and are therefore not included in the Flood Defense Register.

This involves a total of several hundred kilometers of flood defenses. These include polder flood defenses, foreland flood defenses, and compartmentalization dikes. The provisions of the Water Board Regulation also apply to these flood defenses.

These dikes provide protection after the failure of a primary flood defense by dividing the management area into compartments. It is expected that some of the remaining flood defenses will still be subject to a provincial standard in the coming years, which means they will fall under the regional flood defenses.
